It is early Monday afternoon at Dublin School and the winds from Hurricane Sandy are beginning to strengthen. Our students are safe indoors taking their classes and all afternoon activities will take place in the gym and theater. Students will return to their dormitories after dinner for the remainder of the evening. While we still have power we are expecting power outages later today and tonight. We have two main generators and many smaller ones to power the campus. We have a week's supply of food and unlimited water. Since we are at the top of a hill we do not expect any flooding in the area. We will continue to hold classes this week and ask our day families to use their discretion about whether it is safe or not to travel to campus. We will provide housing for any day students who do not feel safe traveling home tonight.
We feel very fortunate to be in this situation and our thoughts are with our families, alumni and friends who are suffering through much more dangerous conditions. We hope that we can lend a hand in the community once the storm passes.
