Happy New Year to the Dublin School family! 2012 is off to a great start on campus and we have much to be fortunate as we look back to 2011 and think ahead to 2012. I am so proud of our students, staff and faculty and the wonderful work they have been doing around campus this academic year. There is a terrific spirit of collaboration, dedication, and support in almost every aspect of our community life.
I wanted to share some exciting news that we received just before the holiday break. Lifetime trustee Ned Whitney notified us that he would like to donate his boathouse on Dublin Lake to the school for the use of our faculty and students. His boathouse, which is right next to our own small dock on the lake, is a beautiful two story building with terrific views of Mount Monadnock. We plan to use the boathouse for our growing sailing program and will build a dock off of the structure to accommodate our great fleet of racing boats. We also hope it is a fun place for swimming, boating, parent and alumni gatherings, academic classes, and meetings. A few people have even "volunteered" to move their offices over there!
I would like to personally thank Ned and his family for their incredible generosity and want them to know that we will take special care of this special building. Ned was quite the boatman in his time, so we have a high standard to live up to. Our sailing team, pictured below on the porch of the building, is particularly excited to get started in the boathouse. I hope as many of you as possible will also be able to enjoy this treasure.
