Work Gang: New Year, New Projects

Last Saturday, the Organic Gardening group had a rewarding first Work Gang of the year, harvesting the fruits of last year’s efforts: ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, and carrots. In addition, they transplanted tomatillos, arugula, parsley, chives and garlic into new beds, and watered the rest of the remaining plants.

This year’s long-term projects for the Garden crew include planting morning glories to grow up around the surrounding fences; building benches to accommodate those who would like to visit and spend time in the garden; creating a greenhouse; and getting started on the orchard and berry bushes, which will be located near the Lower Field.
