Girls Soccer

The girls' varsity soccer team is one of our most popular sports at the school. Under the direction of head coach Mallary Blair, who played soccer at Colby Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire, the squad regularly features a cross section of experience, from veteran players to recent newcomers to the sport.

For those students who haven't played a tremendous amount of soccer prior to coming to Dublin, the program offers a wonderful opportunity to learn the importnat fundamentals of the game. Winning is important, but we also want push our players to develop core traits—hard work, team spirit, appreciation for teamwork—that squad members can use throughout their lives.

The team plays a mix of junior varsity and varsity opponents in the competitive Lakes Region League. The regular seasons consists of 16-18 games. Starting in the fall of 2011, however, we will be playing in the River Valley Athletic League. Our schedule will be made up of similar sized varsity clubs from all over New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Vermont, including Putney, Eagle Hill, and White Oak, among others. More importantly, it's a move that will enhance the balance we try and keep between striving for wins and maintaining a focus on nurturing athletes to stay dedicated to important skills—sportsmanship, leadership, and a commitment to teamwork—they can use throughout their lives.

Our favorite contest of the season takes place during Parents Weekend in October. Student, faculty, and family support is tremendous, with fans filling out the sidelines of Upper Field. In 2010 we had a particularly successful event, using the game to raise money for breast cancer awareness. Pink, the color of the campaign, was the official color that day, with Wildcats clad in pink shirts and socks. Even the game ball was pink. Best of all, the effort raised more than $300.
