With more than 30 years of teaching experience in learning centers at New England boarding schools, my husband Bill and I were drawn to Dublin School for a number of reasons. We joke that we have come full circle since it was in the Dublin/Peterborough area that Bill, on a long bicycle ride, decided to ask me to marry him. The main draw though, is the beautiful location and the overall mission of the school. My teaching experience has been primarily in learning centers where I have worked with countless individual students, helping them understand their learning styles (seeking truth) and reach their potential (acting with courage). I believe strongly in the boarding school experience. Both of our children were faculty children at a New England boarding school and they too, are now currently working as teachers and administrators at independent schools in New Hampshire and California. Working in a boarding school is not a job, rather it is a way of life. As teachers, we have the opportunity to educate, coach, advise and nurture young adults on a daily basis. What a great environment to be able to live this opportunity here in Dublin, which sits among the mountains, forests and lakes.
What book has made you think the most?: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?: I'd like the powers to have everyone feel good about themselves.
If your life had a theme song, what would it be?: Rainbow Connection by Paul Williams and Kenneth Asher
What teacher has had the most impact on you? How were they special?: My fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Thompson. She taught me that school could be fun and that learning is an adventure.
How would your friends describe you in 3 words?: sensitive, friendly, laughs a lot
You are hosting a dinner party and must invite 3 famous people. Who would you choose and why?: As long as we can mix the non-living with the living, I'd like to invite John Denver, Carole King and James Taylor to join me at the base of the Grand Tetons for a large cookout over a campfire. While they wouldn't have to sing, I certainly wouldn't stop them. I feel their conversation would be as inspirational as the words to the songs that they have written.
