B.A. Psychology Boston University
I was born and raised in South Korea. I came to the states when I was 16 to start high school at Dublin School. I was tired of being in a classroom filled with 40 students where I couldn't ask any questions. I chose to come to Dublin because when I visited, students looked so happy and were excited to be here. I had four amazing high school years full of wonderful friendship, new experiences, and the skills to be ready for the next step in my education. I had very close relationships with my teachers and when I was a senior in college, I was invited to be an intern at Dublin School. I took the opportunity and went on to teach psychology, photography and world history until I settled in Admissions office in 2008. I love the fact that I get to take a part in the process of filtering who comes through the door of my Alma mater. I had a great experience as a student, and I want to make sure we fill our school with great students who will have wonderful experience like the one I had. I am also a dorm parent, snowboard coach and faculty sponsor to various clubs on campus.
What book has made you think the most?: The Giving Tree
If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?: Ever since I was little, I always wanted to fly. At one point in my life when I was very little, I thought I could because I had a dream, night after night of flying around my town. When I finally realized that I couldn't, it was a huge disappointment. And no, I didn't find that out the hard way. I think I just grew up and realized that it's physically impossible. Even now, I still dream of being able to fly. That's probably why I love sports and activity that involves speed and air. I love snowboarding, bungee jumping and am planning on going sky diving this spring for the first time.
If your life had a theme song, what would it be?: Anything by Coldplay or Mumford and Sons
What teacher has had the most impact on you? How were they special?: I had a first grade teacher who gave me my favorite book "The Giving Tree". I don't remember the details of that year, but I think she was such a warm person that it made me like school and look forward to going to school every day. I think having such a positive introduction to school and education was the reason why I am here at Dublin working with students today.
How would your friends describe you in 3 words?: I would like to skip this question. It's too hard...
You are hosting a dinner party and must invite 3 famous people. Who would you choose and why?: I would like to invite Kim Jong Il, just so I can ask what his plans are for my country. He intrigues and frustrates me all at the same time. Another person I would like to invite is John Stewart, not because I have much to say to him, but I'm sure he would ask Kim Jong Il a lot of questions that I would like to ask. I would just like to see that interaction. The last person I would like to invite is Alton Brown from Food Network, so he can cook fabulous food and ease the tension by explaining how he cooked the dinner for us. I'm not much of a cook.
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you?: Can't think of an actress..
