I was born in New York City but have spent most of my life living in Dublin, NH. I grew up right down the road from Dublin School. After college I worked for a short time at PC Connection in their technical support and training department. I then went to work for an independent software company, Campagne Associates, where I worked in their support and training department. As part of the job I traveled to a number of non-profit organizations to train them on our software. I got to visit a number of places in the United States and Canada, everywhere from Manhattan Kansas to Manhattan NY. While there I was contacted by Jan Haman about a teaching position at Dublin School; Introduction to Computers! I was lucky enough to get that job teaching computers and English. That was in 1998, and the rest, as they say, is history.
What book has made you think the most?: The Complete Works of William Shakespeare
If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?: The ability to grant wishes.
If your life had a theme song, what would it be?: "Center of Attention" by Guster
What teacher has had the most impact on you? How were they special?: John Sullivan - High School English (freshman and sophomore years) Initially, I just though he was mean and cranky; however in retrospect, he made us think and questioned our assumptions. He was also a brilliant man. I still remember reading West Side Story in his class and his reading of the part of Officer Krupke - hilarious! He also made me want to read "The Scarlet Letter"!
How would your friends describe you in 3 words?: Caring, Friendly, Trustworthy (I hope)
You are hosting a dinner party and must invite 3 famous people. Who would you choose and why?: Coach Mike Krzyzewski - I don't like Duke, but Coach "K" is arguably one of the greatest College coaches in history, and it would be amazing to be able to ask him questions and get advice from a master.
Salman Rushdie - Amazing writer! I could listen to him tell stories all day!
David Eggers - Possible one of the most influential men on the literary scene in the United States right now.
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you?: Renee Zellweger from her Bridget Jones days.
