Head Librarian - Library Services

B.S. Kalamazoo College,

M.A. University of Chicago, Graduate Library School

I have been an active library user since I was old enough to be read to.  I have worked in libraries since I was a high school student and I have been a professional librarian since I earned my MA from the University of Chicago Graduate Library School.  I live with my wife, Kate, and some of my children and grandchildren in nearby Marlborough, NH.  Kate and I home schooled our own children until they entered high school.  I have been working in New Hampshire boarding schools for more than twenty years now.

If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?: The ability to accurately reconstruct any place and time.

If your life had a theme song, what would it be?: Seven Daffodils, written by Lee Hayes and Fran Moseley.

What teacher has had the most impact on you? How were they special?: Caleb Davis is able to connect with each student where they are and challenge them to take the next step needed for their own education.

How would your friends describe you in 3 words?: grounded, calm, humorous

You are hosting a dinner party and must invite 3 famous people. Who would you choose and why?: I would invite S.R. Ranganathan because of the sheer brilliance of his thinking, John Woolman because of his ability to get to the bottom of any problem, and J.R.R. Tolkien because of his wit and imagination.

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you?: Sir Ian McKerren
