In a reversal to what the Dublin girls have been doing to other teams, a talented, deep and extremely motivated Kimball Union Academy team came out on fire and dominated Dublin in our last game of the season. Dublin was playing in the Lakes Region tournament for the first time this year. Kimball Union Academy was seeded in the lower draw based on a tie breaker, even though they had beaten a number of the teams seeded above them. KUA put on a clinic, finding the backside offensive threat repeatedly. KUA defended the entire field limiting Dublin to very few offensive possessions. When we were able to get the ball into the offensive zone, we were actually able to do some damage. We just weren't able to have enough ball possessions to make a difference.
So while we ended the season on a down note, the girls achieved more than any previous Dublin girls lax team, losing only two games (both to Lakes Region varsity squads). We will look to build on the lessons of today and are encouraged by the play of our younger, upcoming players. It is sad to say goodbye to our seniors who have been critical in building the current program. They have made a huge difference.
Scoring for Dublin: Stella Davis (3G); Hope Fowler (2G); and Bette Imhoff (2G,1A).
