Girls Varsity Basketball and NEPSAC Tournament

The girls' varsity team played in their first NEPSAC tournament against Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall yesterday afternoon. The girls soundly defeated them. This means that Dublin advances to the semi-finals on Saturday. If any of you are in the Hartford area and would like to cheer on the team, the game will be held at Loomis Chaffe School at 3:30. Also we will have room in the bus if you want to come. We will be leaving Dublin at 12:00.

I want to commend the team on this historic run. This is the first time Dublin has been in the tournament, and the girls worked very hard all season against some very talented teams in order to be here. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, most of the varsity players are off on amazing adventures in India and Pittsburg. Therefore, we will have two JV players joining us, Mia Brady and Katia Dermott, and two rookies, Lilly Campbell and Rielly Harrison. I want to give a special thank you to those four girls because without them, we wouldn't have been able to play in the tournament.

On behalf of Coach Johnson, I would like to take a moment to recognize our seniors: captain Sierra Riley, Clare Halacy, and Hope Fowler. Clare and Hope have been so important to this team's success. They have worked hard for the past three years and have helped build this team into a force to be reckoned with. Hope has almost single-handedly shut down one of the toughest, most physical players in the RVAL league game after game! Clare has played any role we have asked of her and was key in our win against Stoneleigh-Burnham earlier in the season. Her tenacity under the basket will be greatly missed next year. Last but not least, Sierra first stepped on the Dublin basketball court wearing a Mt. Shadows uniform more than four years ago. We have watched her grow as player and as a leader. Her laughter and tears will be missed!

Wish us luck on Saturday, and if you think of it, take a minute at 3:30 on Saturday and send that positive energy that we feel in the Whitney Gymnasium at every home game our way! Thank you friends, family, and fans for a great season!!
