Sailing at Portland - October 2, 2016

Taya Kerwin (Hancock, NH), Faith Lewis (Bennington, NH), Henry Luettgen (Winchester, MA), Wyatt Switzer (Marlborough, NH), Irena Clements (Long Grove, IL), Rebecca Magruder (Atlanta, GA), Reed Brencher (Killingworth, CT), Alex Goltz (Dallas, TX) and Mya Kerwin (Hancock, NH) represented Dublin in Portland Sunday Series racing 10/2.  13 boats participated giving Dubliners the experience of competing in a larger fleet than we field on Dublin Lake.

The Sunday Series is a new-this-year effort aimed at high school sailors who do not yet have the skills to race varsity events.  Sunday experience showed the concept is well-suited to a large portion of the Dublin team.  Several Dubliners commented on how friendly, both on and off the water, the sailors from other schools were, which is another attraction to boat racing for many who go on to make it a "life sport." Winds were unusually light for venue and when flat calm hit about 75 minutes before the scheduled end an early quit was called.
