Great First Day at Craftsbury Camp

While we are disappointed that there was not enough snow for us to ski on our first day we were not complaining about the beautiful weather and stunning trails. We have thirteen students and four coaches for our four day camp here. Our student athletes did  great job of transitioning from an intense week of exams to a long run on Craftsbury's awesome trails. The grassy and moss covered trails were easy on our limbs and the temperature was perfect. It was great to have our newest team members, Teddy and Lilly, along for the run.

Kathy Maddock led us through some yoga as we worshipped the only pile of snow in New England.

Here we are at the half way point of the run. This is the exact location where we found our missing coach, Mrs. Bates, a couple of hours later! She got lost when she went out looking for us on her run. We found her in one piece on a dirt road in the dark.

After a delicious dinner of Chipotle chicken and Ben and Jerry's ice cream we dragged the students out of the common area for a great workout in the Concept 2 gym. We worked on Ski Erg technique and upper body strength. Then, back to the dorms for fresh baked cookies courtesy of our awesome parents! Thanks for all the food! Tomorrow we head out for hill bounding, roller skiing, and another gym session. Our kids are the best.
