This week I have been asked to serve on a panel evaluating the progress of individual seniors who have started their senior projects. They have spent the first two months of school researching their area of interest, finding mentors and beginning their projects. The Senior Project, a year--long elective course, was the brainchild of our Academic Committee which came up with the idea during our ongoing curriculum review. Our hope was to give more opportunities for independent learning to seniors before heading off to college.
Daria, shown here, spoke to a panel of students and teachers about her project of interviewing individuals in the community and painting a pair of their shoes. So far, she has collected twelve pairs of shoes, from Converse All Stars to stilettos. She seems to be off to a great start and I can't wait to see where she goes with her project.
