Honoring Richard S. Perkin, the Perkin Observatory is an educational center for exploring the Universe. Our advanced astro-imaging equipment allows students to analyze astronomical data that they acquire themselves. In addition to science, students can choose to focus on engineering, robotics, or the mathematical theory behind astronomical observing. The Observatory balances STEM independent studies with labs for science courses and extensive outreach.
Year-round, we host public open houses and private events for local schools and organizations. The Observatory collaborates with the Astronomy Club to perform campus outreach and with all academic departments to further infuse astronomy into a Dublin education. Directed by a full-time resident astronomer, the Perkin Observatory provides rare access to hands-on, interdisciplinary astronomical studies at both introductory and professional levels.
The Perkin Observatory is open to all of the Monadnock Region. Open viewing will occur throughout the summer.
