Wed. January 25th @ 2:15 PM -- Giant Slalom @ Sunapee
Newbury, NH (January 25, 2012) –The Dublin School Wildcats’ alpine ski team competed in the second Lakes Region GS qualifier this past Wednesday. The combination of these two qualifying races will be taken into account when the Lakes Region GS Championships are held during the beginning of February. Racing was hosted by Kimball Union Academy at Mount Sunapee in Newbury, NH. Once again, six schools were present, with a total of 93 skiers racing for the day.
Beginning with the girls were Katie Houde (16th of 29), Margaret Elliot (18th of 29), Riley Lawton (20th of 29), and Amanda Bartlett (23rd of 29) for varsity, and Iva deMartelly (2nd of 3) racing for the JV girls.
Racing on the varsity boys’ side for the Dublin School were Tucker Wheeler (22nd of 37), Lukas Barth (24th of 37), Danny Harrington (25th of 37), Owen Wood (26th of 37), and Daniel Mallory (30th of 37). John Zimardo (16th of 24) raced on the JV boys’ side, along with Marc Krumbein who was not able to complete his 2nd run; it was Krumbein’s first time racing ever.
The Wildcats will miss next week’s SL Championship qualifying race at Gunstock, due to the timing of the winter break, but will be back in action on Wednesday, February 8th, when they compete in the Lakes Region GS Championships.
