Wed. January 18th @ 2:15 PM -- Slalom @ Blackwater 

Andover, NH (January 18, 2012) –The Dublin School Wildcats’ alpine ski team competed in their first slalom race of the season this past Wednesday. The race also served as the first of two Lakes Region qualifiers for the SL Championship race that would be held at the end of February. The event was hosted by Proctor Academy at their home course at the Blackwater Ski Area in Andover, NH. There were six schools in attendance, with a total of 24 varsity girls and 38 varsity boys racing for the day. 

Up first were the girls, and representing Dublin were Katie Houde (7th of 24), Amanda Bartlett (19th of 24), and Riley Lawton (20th of 24). The Dublin girls placed 6th overall, just behind Berwick Academy. Kimball Union Academy took 1st in the girls’ event.

Next up were the boys, and racing for the Dublin School were Tucker Wheeler (20th of 38), Danny Harrington (25th of 38), Owen Wood (28th of 38), John Zimardo (30th of 38), and Daniel Mallory (33rd of 38). The Dublin boys placed 6th overall, edged out of 5th by Vermont Academy. Cardigan Mountain was able to take 1st for the day.

Dublin will return to race again next week at the second Lakes Region GS qualifier hosted by KUA at Mount Sunapee.
