Wed. January 11th @ 2:15 PM - Giant Slalom @ Gunstock
Gilford, NH (January 11, 2012) – In their first race of the 2012 winter season, the Dublin School Wildcats’ alpine ski team competed in the first of two Lakes Region GS January qualifiers this past Wednesday. The event was hosted by the Tilton School and took place at Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, NH. Of the six attending schools, a total of 8 varsity boys and 6 varsity girls were allotted to each program, with the same amount going to both JV boys and girls.
Racing for Dublin School’s varsity boys were Lukas Barth (20th of 42), Tucker Wheeler (22nd of 42), Owen Wood (30th of 42), and Danny Harrington (38th of 42). Representing boys’ JV for Dublin was John Zimardo (4th of 9), and Daniel Mallory (7th of 9). The Dublin boys placed 6th overall, just shy of Proctor Academy. St. Paul’s School came away with 1st place for the day. It is worth noting that this was also Zimardo, Mallory, and Harrington’s first time ever alpine ski racing.
Racing for the Dublin ladies were Katie Houde (13th of 29), Margaret Elliot (20th of 29), Amanda Bartlett (23rd of 29), Riley Lawton (24th of 29), and Iva deMartelly (28th of 29). The Dublin girls placed 5th of 6 overall, ahead of Tilton School and just behind Berwick Academy.
The Wildcats race again next week at the Blackwater Ski Area in the first of two January SL qualifying races.
