Wed. February 8th @ 1 PM -- Giant Slalom Championships @ Gunstock

Gilford, NH (February 8, 2012) -- The Dublin School Wildcats alpine skiing race team competed in the Lakes Region Giant Slalom Championships this past Wednesday at Gunstock Mountain Resort. The racing began at 1:00pm and included twelve teams from across New Hampshire and Vermont. Of all the schools in attendance, each was able to choose its top 8 male athletes and top 6 female athletes to represent their respective programs. The top 4 finishing times for the boys and top 3 finishing times for the girls would count towards overall team placements.

Racing for the Dublin School alpine team on the girls' side was Katie Houde, Margaret Elliot, Amanda Bartlett, Riley Lawton, and Iva deMartelly. The girls' top three finishers were Katie Houde (22nd of 49), Margaret Elliot (34th of 49), and Riley Lawton (43rd of 49). These three girls' combined scores positioned the Wildcats at 8th out of 10 schools over both Berwick Academy and New Hampton School, and just below White Mountain School. St. Paul's School took 1st place overall for the girls.

Representing the Dublin School in the GS Champs on the boys' side was Tucker Wheeler, Lukas Barth, Danny Harrington, Owen Wood, Daniel Mallory, John Zimardo, and Marc Krumbein. The top four Dublin racers were Tucker Wheeler (37th of 78), Danny Harrington (48th of 78), Owen Wood (53rd of 78), and Lukas Barth (56th of 78). These four combined boys' scores put Dublin at 10th out of 12 schools, placing over both New Hampton School and Vermont Academy, and just barely out of reach of White Mountain School. The winner of the boys' GS was the Holderness School.

The Wildcats will continue onward in their winter racing season as they travel to Mount Sunapee in Newbury, NH next week to compete in the NEPSAC Alpine Racing Championships.
